Lasting Results Part 5

Effective Ministry
Two Tools and Weapons
Part 5

1. Last week I gave two testimonies.

2. These testimonies were a demonstration of proper preparation and training in my life.

3. These testimonies revealed what could happen in our area of influence.

4. Miraculous power should be manifesting in those who have been baptized in the Holy Spirit according to scripture.

Acts 1:8
"But you shall receive power#1411 when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Sama'ria and to the end of the earth." RSV

5. Greek definition for the word “Power”: NT:1411 dunamis (doo'-nam-is); from NT:1410; force (literally or figuratively); specially, miraculous power (usually by implication, a miracle itself):

KJV - ability, abundance, meaning, might (-ily, -y, -y deed), (worker of) miracle (-s), power, strength, violence, mighty (wonderful) work.
(Biblesoft's New Exhaustive Strong's Numbers and Concordance with Expanded Greek-Hebrew Dictionary)

* Dunamis is the Greek word that means "power." The English words dynamite and dynamic are derived from it.

6. Those who have been overtaken need believers who are overcomers.

7. One of the top statements recently has been.

8. Effective ministry and lasting results comes through the human touch and electronic devices in the world we live.

9. Balance continues to be the key.

Two Tools and Weapons

10. Realize that God has provided His children with at least two tools.

11. These two tools assist the believer in their daily preparation time and spiritual training.

12. The two tools are the baptism in the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues.

13. The baptism in the Holy Spirit and the speaking in tongues work together like the riverbed and the water that flows down the river. (They need each other)

John 7:37-39
"On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water." But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. NKJV

* Notice that believing is involved.

* Rivers indicate riverbed.

Tools in daily preparation time:

14. Be encouraged as I explain daily preparation in relation to speaking in tongues.

15. Encouragement is needed to prevent a hard heart.

Hebrews 3:12-15
"Take care, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called "today," that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. For we share in Christ, if only we hold our first confidence firm to the end, while it is said,

"Today, when you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion." RSV

16. First allow me to read the following verse.

1 Corinthians 14:4
“He who speaks in a tongue edifies#3618 himself” NKJV (Notice it is personal)

17. Greek definition for the word “Edifieth”: NT: #3618 to increase the potential of someone or something, with focus upon the process involved - 'to strengthen, to make more able, to build up. (From Greek-English Lexicon Based on Semantic Domain)

18. Even though a person has the potential does not mean they will do it.

19. Prayer:
Dear heavenly Father, I humble myself before You and ask that You create in me … the desire and power to … in Jesus name amen.

20. Desire and power must be in the mix.

Philippians 2:13
"For it is God Himself whose power creates within you both the desire and the power to execute His gracious will” Wey (Richard Francis Weymouth)

Philippians 2:13
“For it is God who makes you willing and gives you the energy to do what He wants” Beck (William F. Beck)

21. When a believer speaks in tongues they edify their spirit.
22. They manifest strength so they can continue their daily devotions. (Time with the Father and His word)
23. Remember that desire and power need to be in the mix.
24. Speaking in tongues prepares the believer to overcome everyday situations. (Plenty of situations)
25. How many people do we know that have been overtaken by a situation or condition?
26. Therefore what I am saying should increase the value of speaking in tongues.

Tools in spiritual training time:

27. Now I will explain spiritual training in relation to speaking in tongues.

28. Be encouraged as I carry on.

29. Speaking in tongues will manifest the strength to continue spiritual training.

John 8:31-32
"Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." NKJV

John 8:31-32
"Jesus then said to the Jews who had believed in him, "If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free." RSV

30. Spiritual training include the following:  (We need strength to do each one)

* Dramatized all together as one

(1) Hearing God’s word

(2) Reading God’s word

(3) Studying God’s word

(4) Memorizing God’s word

(5) Meditating God’s word

(6) Applying God’s word

(7) Character training in God’s word

(8) Continuing in God’s word

31. These two tools also are considered weapons as we will see.

32. Keep in mind we are talking about long lasting results not just for one day, month or a year.

Inner Workings of Speaking in Tongues:
(A different realm of communication only experience by those who believe)

33. Speaking in tongues have many facets. (Experienced over a period of time)

5. Insights from His word
6. Directional (Where)
7. Cautions (Avoid)
8. Reminders (Wind in sails)
9. Direction toward a person or a group with interpretation (Public)

34. One particular facet is perfect prayers are being generated. (Emphasis is prayer)

35. Why perfect prayers, because the prayers are from the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit is perfect.

1 Corinthians 14:14
For if I pray#4336 in an [unknown] tongue#1100, my spirit [by the Holy Spirit within me] prays#4336, but my mind is unproductive [it bears no fruit and helps nobody]. AMP

36. Greek definition for the word, “pray”: NT: 4336 proseuchomai (pros-yoo'-khom-ahee); from NT: 4314 and NT: 2172; to pray to God, i.e. supplicate, worship: KJV - pray (X earnestly, for), make prayer.
