Biblical Royal Prayer Guards

A Biblical Foundation for Who We Are

Royal Prayer Guards is a biblically grounded ministry expression of believers who recognize their identity in Christ and intentionally accept the responsibility to pray, stand watch, and advance God's purposes.

The exact phrase “Royal Prayer Guards” is not found in Scripture. However, the biblical foundations behind this identity are clear.

1. We Are a Royal Priesthood

1 Peter 2:9 (RSV) says:

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's own people, that you may declare the wonderful deeds of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”

Every believer in Christ is part of God's people and is described as part of a royal priesthood. Therefore, being a Royal Prayer Guard begins with our identity in Christ—not with a title, position, or special status.

We are royal because of who we belong to.
We pray because we have been given access to God.
We stand because we have been called to live faithfully for Him.

2. We Follow the Example of Jesus in Prayer

Jesus demonstrated the importance of prayer and spiritual responsibility.

In John 17:20 (RSV), Jesus prayed:

“I do not pray for these only, but also for those who believe in me through their word...”

Jesus intentionally prayed for those who would believe in Him.

Prayer is therefore not an optional activity for the believer. It is one of the ways we participate in God's purposes and care for others.

3. Jesus Guarded Those Entrusted to Him

Jesus said in John 17:12 (RSV):

“While I was with them, I kept them in thy name, which thou hast given me; I have guarded them, and none of them is lost but the son of perdition, that the scripture might be fulfilled.”

Jesus demonstrated a heart of watchfulness, protection, faithfulness, and responsibility toward those entrusted to Him.

A Royal Prayer Guard seeks to develop that same kind of spiritual responsibility—not by taking Christ's place, but by following His example and praying faithfully for others.

4. We Have Been Sent

Jesus also said in John 17:18 (RSV):

“As thou didst send me into the world, so I have sent them into the world.”

We are not called merely to receive from God. We are called to go, serve, pray, declare His truth, and make a difference in the world around us.

A Royal Prayer Guard therefore does not hide from spiritual responsibility.

We pray.
We stand.
We serve.
We encourage.
We declare God's truth.
We help advance His kingdom.

What Does “Royal Prayer Guard” Mean?

A Royal Prayer Guard is a believer who understands his or her identity in Christ and intentionally commits to a lifestyle of prayer, spiritual watchfulness, faithfulness, and service.

This is not a claim that we possess a special spiritual rank above other believers.

It is a commitment to take prayer seriously and faithfully fulfill the responsibilities God has given every believer.

Our identity comes from Christ.

Our authority comes from God.

Our assignment comes from Scripture.

Our strength comes from the Holy Spirit.

Our purpose is to glorify God and help advance His kingdom.

Developing Godly Character

Throughout the Royal Prayer Guards teaching, we use character qualities from the Institute in Basic Life Principles (IBLP), used with permission. These qualities are included because developing godly character is essential to becoming faithful and effective in serving others.

We do not claim that any ministry or organization is perfect. We seek to examine everything carefully, receive what is consistent with God's Word, and reject what is not.

Our ultimate standard is Scripture—not a ministry, organization, personality, or tradition.

As believers, we can learn from one another while remaining committed to the truth of God's Word.

Our Commitment

As Royal Prayer Guards, we desire to:

  • Know our identity in Christ.
  • Build our lives upon God's Word.
  • Develop godly character.
  • Become people of consistent prayer.
  • Stand faithfully for others in prayer.
  • Pray according to God's revealed will.
  • Encourage and strengthen fellow believers.
  • Remain spiritually alert and watchful.
  • Serve others with humility.
  • Declare the wonderful works of God.
  • Go where God sends us.
  • Work together to advance His kingdom.

The Bottom Line

Royal Prayer Guards are not a special class of Christians.

We are believers who have embraced a specific commitment to prayer, spiritual watchfulness, godly character, and kingdom service.

We are royal because Scripture calls God's people a royal priesthood.

We are prayerful because Jesus modeled a life of prayer and prayed for those who would believe.

We are guards in the sense that we choose to remain spiritually alert, faithfully intercede for others, and take seriously the responsibility God has entrusted to us.

Our goal is not to promote a name.
Our goal is to honor Jesus Christ, obey His Word, pray faithfully, and help advance God's kingdom.
