Protect the Mind Part 2

Please pray first and ask for guidance and understanding from the Holy Spirit.

Short review:

There are many wars going on in the world.

The war I have been talking about is the war in the mind of people.

The teaching goal today is: “Protect our mind”

God’s word gives clear instructions on what to do for our mind.

In other words what can we do to protect our mind?

Furthermore, what can we do to win the war in our mind?

The answer is in Romans 12:2.

Applying this verse will protect our mind.

Romans 12:2 (AMP) (Greek #3563 = Mind, will and feeling)
“Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind#3563  [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].”

We learned also that if we do not apply Romans 12:2 we could be led away with false and empty teachings.

Colossians 2:8 (RSV)
“See to it that no one makes a prey of you by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the universe, and not according to Christ.”

Colossians 2:8 (NCV)
“Be sure that no one leads you away with false and empty teaching that is only human, which comes from the ruling spirits of this world, and not from Christ.”

We also learned that there is a huge amount of opposition to renew our mind.

Then I gave some good news.

The good was that we have our Helper the Holy Spirit.

John 14:26 (NKJV)
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.”

As we allow the Holy Spirit to help us we can control our mind (Thought life).

Therefore, we will win the wars in our mind.

We discovered that anything that expels or ejects God’s word is considered an opposition.

If we do not pay attention to God’s word on earth (Bible) we will drift past the Bible and slip away.

We considered this verse.

I call this verse the “We” verse!

Hebrews 2:1 (AMP)
“SINCE ALL this is true, we ought to pay much closer attention than ever to the truths that we have heard, lest in any way we drift past [them] and slip away.”

If we spend less time in God’s word, we can drift past God’s word and slip away.

God’s word does not drift from us and slip away but rather we can drift past His word and slip away. (Our choice)

We learned the following.

To ease the opposition against renewing our mind we needed to prioritize things in our life.

Otherwise we will get out of balance and get confused or tangled up.

We also learned that our opposition could come from:

1. The kingdom of darkness (Ephesians 6:12)

2. An un-renewed mind. (Galatians 5:16)

3. A deficiency in prioritizing.

4. A deficiency in balancing.

We addressed in some detail two areas.

1. One is Prioritizing.

2. Two is balancing.

To win in the boxing ring of the mind we need to operate in the strength of Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit! This is not one event, but rather throughout our daily lives. There is more!

1 Corinthians 9:26-27 (KJV)
I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
