Protect the Mind Part 4

Please pray first and ask for guidance and understanding from the Holy Spirit.

(Highlights)

The teaching goal today is: “Protect our mind”

God’s word gives clear instructions on what to do for our mind. (Romans 12:2)

Today we move forward with the same question last time I taught.

When our mind is being attacked where in God’s word can we go?

The answers are in two sections from God’s word.

Furthermore, if these verses are applied there will be victory in our mind.

First section

Romans 12:2 (AMP) (Greek #3563 = Mind, will and feeling)
“Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind#3563  [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].”

Second section
(In general, manage our thought life (Verse 5)

2 Corinthians 10:4-6 (KJV)
4 “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

5 Casting down (#2507 = destroy) (From #2596, #138 = demolish)  imaginations, (#3053 = thoughts) (From #3049 = reasoning)  and every high thing that exalt-eth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

6 And having in a readiness (#2092 = prepared) to revenge (#1556 from #1558 = retaliate) all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.”

Synonyms for “Retaliate”: Strike back, hit back

We ended here in our last session together.

Up until now we have four main areas of God’s word to consider.

Realize that as we apply these two sections of God’s word rightly divided through study we will protect our mind.

1. Romans 12:2 (Renew our mind)

2. 2 Timothy 2:15 (AMP) (Diligently study God’s word rightly divided)

3. James 1:22 (Apply God’s word) (“Does them” Matthew 7:24)

4. 2 Corinthians 10:4-6 (Protect our mind)

Let us move forward in our teaching.

(Personal things that I do)

When a thought comes to my mind I discover (Identify) if it should be brought into captivity and destroyed or demolished.

I run it through my spiritual filtering system which is my renewed mind.

This comes automatically for me because I have been doing this for years.

It has become a good habit through diligent practice.
