Lasting Results Part 3 (Audio/Music)
1. This world is getting worse every day. (Complex and trouble)
2. People are going to need our help.
3. Therefore we need to be prepared and trained. (Come to the fullness)
Romans 15:29
"But I know that when I come to you, I shall come in the fullness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ." NKJV
Gospel = good news.
Jesus is good news.
What is in Jesus?
In Christ Jesus is the totality of all that God is.
4. We should desire and know what the fullness is. (Fullness of the blessing)
5. We need all the tools and weapons God has provided.
6. The fullness will ensure manifested victory that Jesus has already provided for us.
7. In every area of life.
8. Spirit, soul, mind, will, emotions, socially and financially.
Ephesians 3:14-19
"For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, 16 that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with might through his Spirit in the inner man, 17 and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may have power to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness (#4138) of God." RSV
Ephesians 4:11-14
"And his gifts were that some should be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness (#4138) of Christ; 14 so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the cunning of men, by their craftiness in deceitful wiles." RSV
Character Quality segment
9. Character qualities of Jesus are in the fullness.
10. As I continue keep in mind one very important character quality of Jesus Christ.
Availability vs. self-centeredness
Making my own schedule and priorities secondary to the wishes of those I am serving. *(IBLP)
11. Dictionary definition for the word “Available”: present or ready for immediate use, qualified or willing to do something or to assume a responsibility
12. Availability is not in the Bible however we can see it in the actions of people.
13. Jesus made Himself available to:
His Father in prayer
Disciples
The multitudes
Peter
Woman at the well
Us
14. Our goal is to make ourselves available to the Master. (Jesus Christ)
15. If we desire lasting results we need to make ourselves available to God.
16. Otherwise we will be very disappointed.
17. Let us (Holy Spirit and I) talk about preparation.
18. Dictionary definition for the word “Preparation”: the action or process of making something ready for use or service
19. We took action when we accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior.
20. Now we have salvation. (A result)
21. As we are willing and obedient God takes action in our life. (Results will take place)
Isaiah 1:18-19
"Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool. 19 If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land" RSV (Results)
22. It is a process to develop and be ready for use or service. (God’s desires results)
Philippians 2:12
“work out your own salvation with fear and trembling” RSV
23. It takes work to do this.
24. Proper preparation provides a full blessing to those in need.
25. Let us talk about Training.
26. Dictionary definition for the word “Train”: to form by instruction, discipline, or drill, to teach so as to make fit, qualified, or proficient, to make prepared (as by exercise) for a test of skill.
Preparation and Training include the following
27. Making ourselves available to God’s word is needed in these areas.
Be a practicing disciple of Jesus Christ. (Availability needed)
Be water baptized. (Understand the power in it) (Availability needed)
Understand the power within the Lord’s Supper. (Availability needed)
Be baptized in the Holy Spirit. (Availability needed)
Have the physical evidence of speaking in tongues. (Availability needed)
Listen to accurate and effective teachings. (Availability needed)
Develop the character qualities of Jesus Christ. (Availability needed)
28. Then what?
29. We talked about preparation. (Personal basis-inward)
30. We talked about training. (Personal basis-inward)
31. We talked about the fullness of the blessing. (Personal basis-inward)
32. We talked about character quality. (Personal basis-inward)
33. Now we enter into effective evangelism. (People-outward)
Effective Evangelism
34. Go, preach and do the works of Jesus.
Go: Movement (Where are we headed?)
Preach: Full not empty (Gospel) (Prayer and study) (Fullness Romans 15:29)
Do the works of Jesus: (Variety)
35. We have already been sent. (Mark 16:15)
36. What we are taught will determine what we preach.
37. What we are taught will determine the works of Jesus we will do.
38. If we are not baptized in the Holy Spirit with tongues we will not have the power described in Acts 1:8.
Acts 1:8
"But you shall receive power (#1410) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." NKJV
39. Not having this power alters what works of Jesus we will or can do.
40. One result of effective evangelism is salvation.
41. Once a person receives Jesus (Salvation) what is our next step?
42. We cannot just leave a new believer out there with no direction or help.
43. On the other hand, a new believer needs to desire the direction or help.
44. Some only want direction and help when they are in a crisis situation.
45. I call this “Crisis faith”.
46. Crisis faith is when a person is in a crisis situation and they need deliverance now.
47. Then after the situation is resolved they go back the way they were.
48. However, it is possible that in the crisis situation they will see God’s mercy and kindness.
49. God’s mercy and kindness will lead them to repentance.
Romans 2:4
"Do you not know that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?" RSV
50. End result would be obedience to God out of love not because of a crisis.
51. At that point by faith they will make themselves available to God and receive more results.
Isaiah 1:18-19
