Lasting Results Session 2 Part 8 Character! It takes time to grow!

Welcome everyone!
This teaching is in document form only, with special features.
Note: To maintain focus, read everything on the page before viewing the video and going to the links. Thank you.
(1) Let us begin another part of the series, “Lasting results”. (Session 2)
(2) We need God’s strength to operate in the true character of Jesus Christ.
(3) One way strength comes is from speaking in tongues.
(4) Paul said, “He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself” (1 Corinthians 14:4)
(5) This leads us now into a character segment which is vital to our walk with our Father.
(6) The reason is so we can operate in the character qualities of Jesus Christ.
(7) Character development is not for one day but for a lifetime.
(8) In other words, God desires our character or fruit to remain. (Lasting results)
John 15:16
16 You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you and I have appointed you [I have planted you], that you might go and bear fruit and keep on bearing, and that your fruit may be lasting [that it may remain, abide], so that whatever you ask the Father in My Name [as presenting all that I AM], He may give it to you. AMP
(9) It takes the character qualities of Jesus to pray.
(10) One example, we can pray a prayer of faith but without patience the prayer is canceled. (No results)
(11) Remember the testimony of Leslie and her family? (Lasting Results Part 1)
(12) Not only is she speaking in tongues but also her three children and now her husband Chris.
(13) Do you think that took faith and patience?
Hebrews 6:12
“through faith and patience inherit the promises.” NKJV
(14) Remember character qualities of Jesus are in the Pattern. (See Lasting Results part 18 about character)
(15) It takes time to develop the character of Jesus in our life.
(16) Developed character is maturity.
Colossians 1:28-29 (My goal for you)
28 Him we proclaim, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man mature in Christ. 29 For this I toil, striving with all the energy which he mightily inspires within me. RSV
(17) It takes work to mature.
(18) It takes some training to be mature.
(19) It takes patience to be mature.
(20) Consider the following.
(21) Realize that maturity comes in stages. It does not happen overnight, therefore, do not get discouraged!
Mark 4:26-28 (Notice the progression)
26 And He said, The kingdom of God is like a man who scatters seed upon the ground,
27 And then continues sleeping and rising night and day while the seed sprouts and grows and increases — he knows not how.
28 The earth produces [acting] by itself — first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear. AMP
Mark 4:28 (TLB)
“For the soil made the seeds grow. First a leaf-blade pushed through, and later the wheat-heads formed and finally the grain ripened,”
(22) When seeds grow, the roots go down first, and then fruit will appear.
(23) You cannot see the roots in the ground, but growth is happening. Then, over time the fruit will come up.
Isaiah 37:31 (AMP) (Seed, Root, Fruit)
“And the remnant that has survived of the house of Judah shall again take root downward and bear fruit upward.”
(24) If we do it right, best we can, (Based on God’s word) we will have lasting results.
(25) Here is a perspective on people and character.
(26) We need to give people time to grow without getting all upset because of their character deficiencies.
(27) Consider this character quality.
(28) Tolerance vs. Prejudice
“Acceptance of others as unique expressions of specific character qualities in varying degrees of maturity.” *(IBLP)
(29) Notice, it is acceptance, not compromise!
(30) To avoid getting all upset with people because of their fixations or hang-ups it would be wise to see their condition and be prepared to know what to say to help them without condemning them.
1 Peter 3:15
Always be (prepared#2092 ready) to make a defense to any one who calls you to account for the hope that is in you, yet do it with gentleness and reverence; RSV
(31) Notice also, the two-character qualities gentleness and reverence.
