(Wind and Words)
1. In our last teaching together I mentioned “words” several times.
(1) How words direct a person’s life. (Direction)
(2) How words locate a person. (Location)
2. I was reminded of how Jesus rebuked the wind and said to the sea peace be still.
3. Let us take a glance at Mark 4:35-40. (Key verse 39)
(Highlighted text added)
Mark 4:35-40 (Jesus used His words)
35 On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, "Let us cross over to the other side."
36 Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him.
37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling.
38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, "Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?"
39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, "Peace, be still!" And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.
40 But He said to them, "Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?" NKJV

John 14:10-14 (RSV)
“Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority; but the Father who dwells in me does his works.
11 Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father in me; or else believe me for the sake of the works themselves.
12 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I go to the Father.
13 Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son;
14 if you ask anything in my name, I will do it.”
John 17:18 (RSV)
“As thou didst send me into the world, so I have sent them into the world.”
James 1:22 (AMP)
22 But be doers of the Word [obey the message], and not merely listeners to it, betraying yourselves [into deception by reasoning contrary to the Truth].
