Lasting Results Session 2 Part 9 Thread of Patience! Believable! Maturity!

Welcome everyone!
This teaching is in document form only, with special features.

(1) Let us begin another part of the series, “Lasting results”. (Session 2)
(2) Our three targets in this teaching are, (1) Be Patient! (2) Be Believable! and (3) Be Mature!
(Target #1)
(3) Patience is a character quality of Jesus.
(4) Without patience our faith will stop in less than a second or so. Patience is one character quality that needs much attention and development.
(5) One challenge and question! Are we doing anything in our own life pertaining to character development?
(6) Keep in mind, without the true character qualities of Jesus the bottom will fall out of our life and we will suffer for it.
(7) It would be wise to form steps of action toward character development.
(8) Let us move forward in the teaching. Notice the thread of patience in the following verses of God’s word.
1 Thessalonians 5:14
14 And we earnestly beseech you, brethren, admonish (warn and seriously advise) those who are out of line [the loafers, the disorderly, and the unruly]; encourage the timid and fainthearted, help and give your support to the weak souls, [and] be very patient with everybody [always keeping your temper]. AMP
Colossians 3:12-14
12 Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassion, kindness, lowliness, meekness, and patience, 13 forbearing one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. RSV
Ephesians 4:1-3
4 I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called, 2 with all lowliness and meekness, with patience, forbearing one another in love, 3 eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. RSV
2 Timothy 2:23-25
23 But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife. 24 And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, 25 in humility correcting those who are in opposition, NKJV
Romans 5:3-5
3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; 4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope: 5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. (KJV)
James 1:2-4
2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. NKJV
(Target #2)
(9) As believers in Christ, we are to become believable!
(10) To become believable to others, true character (Fruit) must be established in our life.
(11) Those in Christ will be known by their fruit or character.
Matthew 12:33
for the tree is known by its fruit. RSV
Matthew 7:18-20
18 A sound tree cannot bear evil fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus you will know them by their fruits. RSV
(12) The character qualities of Jesus should certainly be in our life, otherwise people will not believe what we say about Jesus.
(13) If we are not growing in character, we will not be believable (Realistic) to those who are lost. I came across this insight while I was reviewing my notes from 1992. (N0. 67 page 22) “Non-Christians do not see realness in Christians because they (Christians) act the same way as non-Christians.”
2 Peter 3:18
but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. NKJV
(14) Part of the knowledge of our Lord involves character.
(Target #3)
(15) The emphasis now, is maturity. Our goal here is to prevent casualties.
(16) First, it would be wise to be spiritually prepared when ministering to people.
(17) A person spiritually unprepared would be a baby Christian.
(18) Keep this in mind, when we enter the kingdom of light, we will encounter spiritual warfare.
(19) Therefore, it is dangerous to send out babies into warfare.
(20) Here are some questions to consider.
(21) Can a baby help a baby?
(22) Would we send out a baby to do an adult job?
(23) Would we send a baby to war?
(24) Let us go further. Who is considered a baby? Ponder over these portions of God’s word.
Hebrews 5:11-14 (AMP)
11 Concerning this we have much to say which is hard to explain, since you have become dull in your [spiritual] hearing and sluggish [even slothful in achieving spiritual insight].
12 For even though by this time you ought to be teaching others, you actually need someone to teach you over again the very first principles of God's Word. You have come to need milk, not solid food.
13 For everyone who continues to feed on milk is obviously inexperienced and unskilled in the doctrine of righteousness (of conformity to the divine will in purpose, thought, and action), for he is a mere infant [not able to talk yet]!
14 But solid food is for full-grown men, for those whose senses and mental faculties are trained by practice to discriminate and distinguish between what is morally good and noble and what is evil and contrary either to divine or human law.
1 Corinthians 3:1-4 (AMP)
1 HOWEVER, BRETHREN, I could not talk to you as to spiritual [men], but as to nonspiritual [men of the flesh, in whom the carnal nature predominates], as to mere infants [in the new life] in Christ [unable to talk yet!]
2 I fed you with milk, not solid food, for you were not yet strong enough [to be ready for it]; but even yet you are not strong enough [to be ready for it],
3 For you are still [unspiritual, having the nature] of the flesh [under the control of ordinary impulses]. For as long as [there are] envying and jealousy and wrangling and factions among you, are you not unspiritual and of the flesh, behaving yourselves after a human standard and like mere (unchanged) men?
4 For when one says, I belong to Paul, and another, I belong to Apollos, are you not [proving yourselves] ordinary (unchanged) men?
1 Corinthians 2:6
6 Yet among the mature we do impart wisdom,
RSV
(25) Therefore, a baby is:
(1) Dull of hearing.
(2) Needs milk.
(3) Unskilled in the word.
(4) Faculties not trained by practice to distinguish good from evil.
(5) Still of the flesh. (un-renewed mind)
(6) Jealous.
(7) In strife.
(8) Behaving like ordinary men.
