Hello all Royal Prayer Guards and all those who join us!
I praise God for you!! Thank you for your loyalty as we continue to honor God in prayer for those in need.
This prayer focus is directed to people of any age who are experiencing depression.
In some of my research, I came across these statements.
“Depression has become a global epidemic.
According to The World Health Organization 2016 fact sheet, an estimated 350 million people of all ages suffer from depression globally. Depression is the leading cause of disability worldwide and a major contributor to the overall global burden of disease. The condition can detrimentally affect a person’s ability to work, have relationships, and destroy their quality of life.”
Therefore what can the child of God do to overcome depression from God’s perspective?
Answer: Put on the WHOLE armor of God.
I discovered that there are many keys to this subject of the armor of God to help people overcome depression. I will address one key in this prayer focus, which is the helmet of salvation located in Ephesians 6:17.
My insights:
I believe that the helmet of salvation is the most important piece of armor because it involves our thought life. If a person’s thought life is in harmony with God’s Word they will receive and use the FULL armor of God. The results will be protection and victory. Therefore protecting the mind is very essential.
The helmet of the salvation of all that it contains is the Word of God (His Knowledge) rightly divided, received, developed, and applied in the believer’s life. All these, function as the helmet to protect our minds.
These truths (Rightly dividing, receiving, developing, and applying) work for every piece of the armor of God and will manifest security and triumph.
Quote from Rick Renner:
“Our intellectual comprehension of all that salvation encompasses must be ingrained in our minds. When our minds are convinced of these realities — in other words when our minds are trained and taught to think correctly in terms of our salvation — that solid knowledge becomes a helmet in our lives!”
Suggestions to consider when praying for others:
(1) Receive God’s Word rightly divided. (Ephesians 6:17, Mark 4:20, 2 Timothy 2:15 Amp)
(2) Develop a healthy thought life. (Romans 12:2, Philippians 2:12)
(3) Apply God’s Word. (James 1:22, Ephesians 4:24)
(4) Protect the thought life. (2 Corinthians 10:3-6, Psalms 119:9-11)
(5) Seek help from wise and mature believers in Christ Jesus. (Proverbs 24:6)
